Elder Abuse: A Course for Health and Community Care Providers

Join Sandra Loucks Campbell PhD, and Karen Stewart MSW, RSW for this educational workshop. This new elder abuse program covers the most essential learning for people who work where elder abuse may exist. Topics included are; the roots of elder abuse, defining and assessing elder abuse, intervention methods, roles and resources. The course is interactive, punctuated with creative intervention ideas. Participants have fun, build knowledge and strengthen their on-the-job skills. Participants will take away new knowledge, specific strategies and a user-friendly handbook published by the Ontario Association of Social Workers packed with helpful tips and resources.

Alzheimer Knowledge Exchange Event

Topic: Reforming Ontario’s Capacity, decision-making, and Guardianship Laws.

Speaker: Join Presenter Lauren Bates, Senior Lawyer, Law Commission of Ontario for this education webinar.

Summary: The law capacity, decision-making and guardianship governs how decisions related to property, treatment, and personal care are made in situations where individuals’ decision-making abilities are in someway impaired, but decisions nonetheless be made. This includes issues related to capacity assessment, consent to treatment and to admission to Long-term care, and powers of attorney.
